Spot World Heritage (SWH) is a programme of Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES) made in cooperation with Airbus Defense and Space (ADS). The ambition of the SWH programme is to make available to the public all useful images acquired by the Spot 1 to 5 family of satellites over the whole globe from 1986 to 2015. The SWH service is now open: 15 000 images on metropolitan France acquired between 1998 and 2008 are available free of charge from the THEIA website (www.theia-land.fr) for any user of any nationality, public or private, as long as the usage of images has a non-commercial character. Several calls were made to identify the images needs. One of those calls was coordinated by ForM@Ter with the national scientific community. To the end of 2016 the objective is to provide the processed images covering all areas of interest for the scientific community and for large international programs of Earth observation.
